Apple Butter Cake

Apple butter adds a deep apple flavor and lots of warm spices to this cake. Use your favorite store-bought apple butter or your own homemade.

Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup apple butter
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 3 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup sour milk (1 cup of milk with 2 tablespoons of white or cider vinegar added)

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and lightly flour 9" x 13" pan.
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, beat until light and fluffy.
Stir in 1 cup of apple butter.
Sift together the dry ingredients. Add flour mixture alternately with the sour milk.
Turn batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
