Ingredients
- 2 c flour
- 1/4 c plus 3 T sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 c chilled margarine, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 c dried tart cherries
- 1/2 c nonfat buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 1 egg lightly beaten

Step 1
Combine first 5 ingredients in a bowl; cut in margarine with pastry blender until mixture resembles course meal. Add cherries; toss well. Combine buttermilk and next 3 ingredients; add to dry ingredients, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened (dough will be sticky.)
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and with floured hands kneed 4 to 5 times. Pat the dough into an 8-inch circle on a baking sheet covered with cooking spray.
Bakke at 400 F for 18 minutes or until golden.
