Ingredients
- 2 cups flour, plus extra for work
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tea. salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, cut in small dice
- 3/4 buttermilk or cream
- 1 egg
- additional desired ingredients
- GLAZE
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 oranges (zest and juice)
- 1 tea. almond extract

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together in large bowl. Cut in chilled butter using a fork or a pastry blender. (coarse crumbs).
In a separate bowl, stir buttermilk (or cream) and egg together, then add to flour mixture. Stir until just combined. Mix in any desired "add ins".
Place dough on a floured surface and pat into a 3/4" thick square or rectangle. Cut into squar3es or circles with a biscuit cutter. Set on a sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool; drizzle with glaze.
GLAZE: Combune all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat slowly over medium-low heat. Re3move from heat and stir until smooth, Drizzle or brush on top of cooled scones.
