  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs, well beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 cup rolled oats (not instant)
  • 1 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional

Preparation

Step 1

pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. grease two large cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.

in a large mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy. add sugars; beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. beat in eggs. add vanilla.

mix flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in medium bowl. stir dry ingredients into butter-sugar mixture. stir in rasins and nuts. stir in oats.

spoon out dough by large tablespoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.

bake until coolie edges turn golden brown, 10 -12 minutes. cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. cool completely. store tightly covered.

makes about 2 dozen cookies.
