  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons grated orange peel
  • 1 egg
  • 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, cut butter into flour until crumbly. Blend in sugar, orange peel, and egg. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 2 x 1-inch bars. Place bars about 1 inch apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from baking sheet to a wire rack to cool. Melt chocolate in the top of a double boiler over hot but not boiling water. Dip each bar halfway into the melted chocolate. Place on a sheet of waxed paper until the chocolate sets, about 10 minutes.
