Homemade Corn Dogs

Ingredients
- Honey Mustard Sauce:
- 8 hotdogs
- 8 wooden skewers
- 1-1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Preparation
Step 1
Take a skewer and run it through the middle of the hot dog. Continue with remaining hot dogs and skewers.
Heat oil in deep fryer to 350 F.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, cornmeal, sugar and baking powder. Add eggs and milk and stir to combine. Pour batter mixture into a tall glass deep enough to dip the skewered hot dogs into the batter.
Place a cooling rack into a baking sheet lined with paper towels to drain cooked corn dogs.
Dip in batter then place in deep fryer. Fry 2 to 3 corn dogs at a time. Avoid overcrowding. Fry the corn dogs 5 to 7 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oil and let excess oil drain. Place on prepared draining rack. Continue until all the corn dogs are cooked.
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, mustards, and cayenne. Serve with corn dogs.
Makes 8 corn dogs.
