Preparation

Step 1

Warm water, milk and oleo in sauce pan. Pour into warmed mixing bowl; add sugar, salt, yeast and 2 cups. flour. Beat 2 min, electrically. Gradually add flour, stirring by hand till dough pulls away from sides. Place on board and knead 7 mins. Only add enough flour to keep from sticking. Put dough in large, warmed, greased bowl, turning once to grease top of dough. cover and let rise in warm, draft free spot till doubled in size. (1 1/2 hours)

Punch down dough (to break up gas pockets which cause hold in bread). Now, divide into 3 equal pieces and shape into loaves. Round into a ball on kneading surface. Let "rest" for 10 mins.

Gently flatter each to oblong shape. Place in greased loaf pan. Cover with cloth and let rise in warm draft free place for about 1 hr. Bake @375 for 35 min or until brown and shrunk away from pan a little. Remove from pans immediately. Do not cover or they will get soggy.

If you don't was to go thru the hassle of the kneading, etc. you can cut this in half and put in a bread machine on the "dough" cycle. It will work in bread machine but you must half the recipe.
