Cookies:

In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, cream butter, egg and vanilla; beat until light and creamy. Add dry ingredients; mix well. (OPTIONAL: Add 1/2 cup nuts, raisins, OR chocolate chips.) Drop by rounded tablespoon onto greased cookie sheets. Smooth tops of cookies. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Drizzle with glaze. Makes 2-3 dozen cookies

Glaze:

In small bowl, combine 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
