  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 T maple syrup
  • 1 loaf French read, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups prepared eggnog
  • 1 t. vanilla

Step 1

Grease a 9 x 13" baking pan with butter or nonstick cooking spray.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and maple syrup until mixture comes to a boil. remove from heat & pour into baking pan. Arrange bread cubes over brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle bread cubes with cinnamon & nutmeg.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and mix in eggnog & vanilla. Evenly pour mixture over the bread cubes. Press lightly on the bread to make sure it's all coated. Tightly cover baking pan with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight, or at least 8 hours.
Remove from refrigerator. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake, covered, for 40 minutes. Increase oven to 375 degrees and remove foil. Bake, uncovered, for an additional 5 - 10 minutes or until toothpick is clean and top is puffy and golden brown.

Serve with warm maple syrup.
