Ingredients
- Put into a bowl. Add:
- 1 c shortening
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 3 c syrup (I use 2 c Brer Rabbit Molasses and 1 c dark Karo.)
- Put all ingredients in a sauce pan and cook over low hear until melted. Cool
- 10 c flour (You may add more or less flour to make a stiff dough.)
- 2 t cinnamon
- 2 t ground cloves
- 2 t allspice
- 2 t baking soda dissolved in 1/4 c hot water

Step 1
Roll into long rolls the size of a penny. Refrigerate overnight. Cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Bake in a 375 degree oven about 8-10 minutes. Watch closely, they burn easily.
This makes enough to last all year so just use 1/2 of recipe if you want. No need to line up in rows on cookie sheet. Just let them drop where they may.
