Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 eggs separated
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 cups black walnuts chopped
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 cup milk
- pinch salt

Step 1
Rub butter and sugar with a wooden spoon on the side of a bowl to a light, white cream. Add egg yolks and beat until smooth. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together. Add flour mixture, together with milk, a little at a time, beating well. Fold in chopped nuts and stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
