Chocolate Oatmeal Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
• 1 cup flour (spoon in)
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 cup rolled oats
• 1/2 cup nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Blend in chocolate. Blend in dry ingredients, then rolled oats and nuts.

Mold into roll 1 1/2" in diameter. Chill several hours or overnight.

Slice dough 1/4" thick. Place about 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 350 deg. for 10 - 12 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen.
