Molasses Crinkles

These have been my favorite cookie for decades. Easy to make, chewy, and so flavorful! Great for holiday cookie exchanges.

Ingredients

• 3/4 c. Crisco shortening
• 1 c. granulated sugar
• 1/4 c. molasses
• 1 egg
• 2 t. soda
• 2 c. flour
• 1/2 t. allsice
• 1 t. cinammon
• 1/2 t. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Melt shortening in a 3-quart pan. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

Add sugar, egg and molasses to cooled shortening in pan. Beat well.

Sift together dry ingredients and add to pan. Mix well and chill for at least 30 minutes.

Roll into 1" balls. Roll in sugar and place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
