Ingredients

  • 2 large cans Tuttorosso crushed tomatoes
  • black pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • a few pinces of sugar
  • a couple of bunches of fresh italian parsley
  • a couple of bunches of fresh sweet basil
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • a few pinches of grated cheese
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 small can water
  • small package of pork neck bones
  • 1 lb. italian sausage
  • 1 small lamb shank

Preparation

Step 1

All meat should be browned in a frying pan using olive oil. Remove and set aside.

Sauté garlic in olive oil in same frying pan as meat till softened. Don't burn it.

Add tomato paste to sautéed garlic, and cook for a short time while scraping the pan.

In a large pot, combine all ingredients except meat and paste, and simmer.

When large pot contents begin to bubble, add tomato paste and stir.

Add all meat.

Stir about every 15 minutes, being sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the pot, because you don't want this to stick or burn. Keep the lid tilted on the pot.

Simmer about 3 hours.
