Baked Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts

By

Of all the baked doughnuts I’ve made so far using my doughnut pan, I think these are my favorite. It could just be that I’ve been on a chocolate kick lately, but something about these rich, double-glazed doughnuts really hit the spot.

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and spray a doughnut pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, sugars, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until blended. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan until 2/3 full.

Bake 12-13 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool and then carefully turn out of the pan.

To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl. If the glaze is too thick for dipping, add a little more milk as needed. Dip each donut in the glaze. Add sprinkles if desired. Makes 6 doughnuts.
