Ingredients

  • 2 shallots, minced (or white parts of 2 green onions)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 1 lb. fresh crab meat
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 3oz package plain or herb flavored cream cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium-size, heavy saucepan saute shallots and garlic in butter over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add sherry and raise heat to high and cook 2 minutes more. Add crab, mayo, whipping cream, and cream cheese (cut into small chunks). Reduce heat to medium-low and stir gently until well heated but not boiling. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with warm french bread or melba toast.
