Preparation

Step 1

Line the cups of a standard size muffin pan with paper liners. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, carefully separate the shredded wheat biscuits into strands. Set aside.

Melt the milk chocolate and shortening together in the microwave, stirring every 15 seconds until just melted, or as I did, in a small non-stick saucepan on the stove.

Pour the melted chocolate over the shredded wheat and gently mix together with a spoon. (I found it easier to use my hands.)

Working on one "nest" at a time, fill a muffin cup about half full of the chocolate mixture then make a small indention in the center. Fit 3 of the chocolate eggs in the indention. Repeat process with remaining cups. (The shredded wheat mixture can be microwaved for a few seconds if it starts to harden or look dry before you finish.)

Allow at least 2 hours for "nests" to set.
