Oreo Cookie Desert

I got this recipe from my sister, Liz, it's wonderful! We double the chocolate recipe. Be sure to start the chocolate early it takes quite a while to thicken and cool.

Ingredients

• 30 oreos, crushed
• 1/4 cup butter, melted
• 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
• 1/4 cup butter
• 2 squares semi sweet baking chocolate
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 2/3 cup evaporated milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 tub of cool whip
• nuts (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Mix oreos & 1/4 cup melted butter
Press firmly into 9x13 inch pan
Cover with soft vanilla ice cream, put in freezer
Melt 1/4 cup butter,chocolate, and sugar over low heat
Gradually add evaporated milk, cook until thick
Add vanilla and cool real well
Spread on ice cream layer
Cover with cool whip and nuts
Freeze until well set
