Ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 7-8 cups icing sugar
  • 1 jar butterscotch topping for sundaes (250 ml)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-2 tbsp. milk

Step 1

CAKE:

Mix butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Combine dry ingredients. Add 1/2 to butter mixture and stir. Add milk. Add remaining flour mixture just till moist. Fold in chocolate chips. Bake in 9" layer pans at 350 for 30-35 minutes.

FROSTING:

Mix butter and 3 cups of sugar till creamy. Add caramel sauce. Slowly add remaining icing sugar and vanilla till thick enough to spread. Add milk 1 tbsp. at a time. Frost cake between layers and on outside of cake. Top with chocolate shavings.
