By JAmero4702
This recipe comes from old South Natick, the village where John Eliot preached to the Indians. The flour used in the original recipe came from the grist mill on the banks of the Charles.

Preparation
Step 1
Mix in order given - creaming sugar and shortening and egg, then molasses. Beat well, then blend in dry ingredients. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or less. Molasses burns easily. Take them out before they look quite done. Ice them while warm if you like.
