Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • dash white pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon chinese cooking wine
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • BATTER
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • dash salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • SWEET & SOUR SAUCE
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon HP sauce
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 green pepper, cut into 1" cubes
  • 1 red pepper, cut into 1" cubes
  • 2 green onions, cut into 1" pieces
  • 2 pineapple rings, cut in 1/2" pieces
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Preparation

Step 1

Add seasoning to chicken and let stand 5 minutes.

Dip meat in batter and deep fry. Meat is cooked when it floats. Drain.

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in wok, add vegetables and saute. Add sweet and sour sauce ingredients, stir and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch and water and bring to a boil again to thicken.

Pour sweet & sour sauce over chicken balls and serve.
