Ingredients

    c of rolled oats

  • 1/4

    c canola oil

  • 4

    T melted butter

  • 1

    tsp. salt

  • 1

    c brown sugar

  • 1/2

    c honey

  • 1/4

    c apple juice

  • 1/4

    c molasses

  • 3

    tsp. vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2

    c rice cereal

  • 1

    c wheat germ

  • 1/2

    c finely chopped pecans

  • 1/4

    c roughly chopped almonds

  • 8

    ozs. milk chocolate melted

Directions

. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees In a large bowl toss the oats with the oil, melted butter and salt, spread the mixture onto 2 baking sheets and toast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, shaking the pan twice to prevent burning, remove from oven and cool, adjust oven heat to 325 degrees . In a medium sauce pan combine the brown sugar, honey, apple juice and the molasses, heat slowly constantly stirring until melted , stir in the vanilla off the heat . Toss together the toasted oats, rice cereal, wheat germ, pecans and almonds, pour in the sugar mixture and toss to combine . Pour onto a greased baking sheet and press into the pan and bake for 25 minutes, remove and cool and cut into bars while still slightly warm . Dip one side of the bars into the melted chocolate and let stand until chocolate firm up, (faster done in the frig)
