Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 6 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and add granulated sugar and vanilla or almond extract. Add flour and salt.

Roll out to 1/8" thickness. Cut into strips 1" x 2" with pastry wheel.

Place on cookie sheets and brush with egg white, slightly beaten.

Mix Topping (sugar and cinnamon). Sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Bake at 350 deg. for about 8 minutes or until golden brown.
