Preparation
Step 1
Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and butter until melted. Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into warm bowl. Sprinkle yeast over water and stir until completely dissolved. Stir in milk mixture, beaten eggs and half the four. Beat until smooth and elastic. Stir in remaining flour until dough is stiff enough to handle. Knead until smooth and elastic. Lightly oil a large bowl. Place dough in bowl and turn over to coat with oil. Cover bowl with damp towel and let rise 45 to 60 minutes. Remove dough from bowl, punch down and roll to make a rectangle 15 x 4 inches. Mix sugars and cinnamon together. Brush dough well with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture and raisins. Roll up, jelly roll fashion, starting with long side. Cut into 12 large or 24 medium equal parts and place in two buttered 9 inch cake pans. Cover with damp cloth and let rise until doubled (30 to 40 minutes). Preheat oven to 350. Pour syrup over and turn over onto cookie sheet so that syrup will run down sides of buns. Let cool.
