Ingredients

  • 3 lbs potatoes, sliced thinly
  • salt to taste
  • 9 tbsp flour
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 qt milk
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tbsp chopped onions
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup parmesan

Preparation

Step 1

1. Boil the potatoes for 5 mins. Meanwhile make a roux of the flour and butter, slowly adding in the milk. Once roux is formed and brought to a boil, add seasonings and parmesan cheese. Boil for 5 mins more.

2. Preheat oven to 425F. Spray a 13x9" baking dish and add a layer of potatoes. Cover with cheese sauce, another layer of potatoes, more cheese, another potatoes, and cover with cheese sauce.

3. Cook covered until the sauce boils (check after 5 mins), then remove cover and reduce heat to 350F and bake for 30 mins. To get the top of the potatoes browned, broil uncovered for about 5 mins.
