- A small handful of rosemary, thyme or sage sprigs
- A large handful of parsley sprigs
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 or 2 crushed garlic cloves
- A pinch of black peppercorns

Preparation
Step 1
1. Combine 6 cups water with a small handful of rosemary, thyme or sage sprigs, a large handful of parsley sprigs, a few bay leaves, 1 or 2 crushed garlic cloves and a pinch of black peppercorns.
2. Bring barely to a simmer, then turn off the heat; steep from 5 to 15 minutes, and strain.
