Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, julienned
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 (2-pound) head green cabbage, core removed and leaves coarsely chopped
  • Freshly ground black
  • 1 pound dry egg noodles, cooked in salted water

Preparation

Step 1

In a large sauté pan over medium-low heat, sweat onions with 2 tablespoons butter and 1½ teaspoons salt until softened, about 15 minutes.

Add remaining butter to onions. Once it has melted, stir in cabbage and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft but not browned, about 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

To serve, toss with cooked egg noodles.
