Ingredients
- SYRUP:
- 1 c sugar
- 1/2 c honey
- 1 c water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- CAKE BATTER:
- 3/4 c unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp. grated orange zest
- 3/4 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 c a. p. flour (all purpose)
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c milk
- 1 c chopped walnuts

Preparation
Step 1
. Cook syrup ingredients together in a sauce pan until thickened to a syrup consistency
. Cream butter and sugar together, add in the eggs one at a time along with the zest, next combine all the dry ingredients together and add in a little at a time mix until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated
. Stir in the nuts last
. Pour into a greased 8" inch square pan (greased) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
. Cool and cut into diamonds, soak cake with the syrup
