Postage Stamps (Cancelled - Where to donate)

By

Dear Heloise: I read, a few years ago, about an organization that involved young children who could use CANCELED POSTAGE STAMPS in their activities. The stamps were used to teach children about collecting or something. If you have any information about this, I would be grateful. Also the address would be helpful, if you know of such an organization. -- W.V., Pine Bluff, Ark.

You are referring to Stamp Camp USA in Pennsylvania. You are correct that the camp introduces children to stamp collecting. The camp’s Web site, www.stampcampusa.org, shares lists of other items that can be donated, as well as other information.

Send canceled stamps and other donations (like copy paper, envelopes, ribbon, buttons or even pipe cleaners) to: Stamp Camp USA, 117 Court St., Ste. A., Elkland, PA 16920. You also can call the camp at 814-258-5601. Stamp Camp USA is not funded or supported by any government agency, so it relies on donations. By sending this organization your canceled stamps, you not only are helping it, but you are recycling stamps. A winning combination! -- Heloise
