  • 1 cup butter, divided
  • 2 tbsp EACH garlic salt & paprika, divided
  • 1 (12 ounces) can beer, ginger ale or root beer
  • 1 (4-6 pound) whole chicken, cleaned
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Step 1

Preheat grill, low heat. In small skillet, melt 1/2 cup butter. Add 1 tbsp garlic salt, 1 tbsp paprika, salt and pepper; stir. Wash can; discard 1/2 beer, leave remainder in can. Add remaining butter, garlic salt, paprika, salt and pepper into beer can. Place can upright on baking sheet. Set the whole chicken on can, inserting can into the cavity of chicken. Baste chicken with melted butter mixture. Place baking sheet on grill. Cook 3 hours.
