Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cups chopped walnuts or chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the oats, flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts and raisins.

Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.
