Ingredients
- 3 ⁄4 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 ⁄4 cup molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cups flour, sifted
- 1 ⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon clove
- 1 ⁄2 teaspoon ground ginger

Preparation
Step 1
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add molasses and egg.
Stir in sifted, flour, salt and baking soda.
Then cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Dough will be soft and sticky.
Roll, into walnut-sized balls and roll in granulated sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for 7 to 8 minutes. Cookie will flatten out while baking.
