Ham and Cheese Danish

Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbl olive oil
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 C gruyere, shredded
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 1 egg

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In medium sauté pan, add the olive oil, then the onions and cook until onions turn golden, about 20-30 minutes.
To form Danish, begin with long edge of pastry on bottom of your work surface. On the right half, place half of the caramelized onions, followed by half the cheese and half the ham, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Repeat with remaining ingredients, seasoning each layer.
In small bowl, beat egg. Brush border with egg, then carefully fold pastry over ingredients. Crimp edges around border to seal and transfer pastry to parchment lined sheet pan.
Bruch entire pastry with egg, then cut a few slits in top of the pastry.
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
