Ingredients

  • 2 pkg yeast
  • 1/4 cup luke warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup milk scalded
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cup sifted flour

Preparation

Step 1

Soak yeast with 2 tbsp sugar and 1/4 cup water. Add milk and 2 tbsp sugar, egg, shortening and salt. Add flour in several additions.

Mix well form into a ball. Let rest 10 minutes. Raise until double, roll and cut it once. Let stand for 2 1/2 hours to rise. Fry in deep fat.
