Step 1
Cut stem of artichoke but do not go past to the leaves.
snip tops of leaves
soak in salt water up side down for 1/2 hour-keep opening leaves so that dirt falls out. rinse and shake clean. Saute bread crumbs in oil and garlic. Place artichokes in a pot with water only over bottom. Drizzle with evoo and garlic powder. Stuff artichoke with bread crumb mixture. Cover and heat until water simmers, lower heat and keep at simmer for up to an hour until leaves pull off easily and taste tender. Keep watch, you may need to add water so it does not completely evaporate.
