This classic dip is simply made from rip avocados, onion, chiles, tomatoes and cilantro. To reduce the hotness of the dish, seed the chile peppers before chopping. Accompany the guacamole with tortilla chips or raw vegetables for dipping.

  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 large tomato finely chopped
  • 1 or 2 fresh serrano chile peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 fresh cilantro springs, finely chopped
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cut each avocado in half, remove the pits and scoop out the pulp into a bowl. Mash lightly with a fork.
Add the onion, chiles, tomato and cilantro and stir with a fork until well mixed.
Season to taste with lime juice and salt.
Serve immediately, as guacamole gradually darkens with exposed to air.
