Sesame-Ginger Green Beans

Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and diagonally cut into 2 inch pieces
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp mirin (rice wine)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp canola or veg oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 1/2 to tbsp minced ginger
- 1 garlic clove
- salt/pepper to taste

Step 1
1) Bring large pot of salted water to boil. Add the green beans and cook for 5-7 minutes, until tender. Drain in a colander and rinse under cold water.
2) Combine hoisin, mirin, and sesame oil in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and add the canola oil. Add the sesame seeds to the center of the pan - they will pop and move toward the outside of the pan on their own. Shake the pan until the seeds begin to brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the ginger and garlic, shake the pan again, and cook for 1 minute. Using a wooden spoon, add the hoisin mixture, turn the heat up just a bit, and add the green beans with a sprinle of salt. Cook, stirring frequently and coating the green beans with the sauce, just until they're heated through and tender, 3 to 5 minutes. The sauce should be a shiny glaze on the beans. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
