Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cup flour
  • 3 Tbs. cocoa
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla
  • 5 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 Tbs. milk at room temp
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cup confectioners sugar

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350*.

Mix first 5 ingredients in a greased 8" square baking pan. Make 3 deep impressions in dry ingredients. Pour vinegar in one, vanilla in one and vegetable oil in one. Pour water over all. Mix well until smooth.

Bake on middle rack of oven for 35 minutes. Check with a toothpick to make sure it comes out clean. Cool. Top with peanut butter frosting.

FROSTING: Place peanut butter and butter in a medium bowl. Beat until smooth and creamy. Next add 2 cups of confectioners sugar, beat until blended well and begins to thicken then add vanilla and 1 Tbs. milk at a time. Mix for approximately 3 minutes until its light and fluffy and spreadable. If its too thick just add more milk and beat.
