Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 cups King Arthur flour
- 1 cup corn meal, regular (not coarse)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 1/2 cups milk

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the sugar and eggs until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Sift the flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt together. Add the melted butter and the milk. Stir in the egg mixture. Beat quickly by hand (do not use an electric mixer, which will give the cornbread the texture of cake)
Bake in buttered pan in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
Remove from oven and cut into squares.
Serve warm for best results.
