Mum's Sheperds pie

By

Mum used to make this on the Cold Days and it is a meal that sticks to your ribs. It is very filling and if there are any left overs, it is just as good or even better the Next Day.

It is a very easy recipe to make, and only takes about an hour and a bit to have ready.

Preparation

Step 1

First thing I did was peel the Potatoes and put them on to boil. I then took the Onion and diced up and in the Frying Pan Sauted until soft in Cold Pressed Olive Oil. When the onion was soft removed from the frying pan and added the Lean Hamburg to the Hot Pan. Add more Olive Oil first or the Hamburg will stick and burn in the pan. After the Hamburg is browned drain the fat and add the can of Beef Gravy and Peas n Carrots {Drained ~ a little bit of the water from the can will add flavor}. When the Potatoes are soft, mash and add Butter to taste. When the Potatoes are mashed through and the Butter mixed in, add to the top of the Hamburg. Add the Pre~made pie crust shell {I used the Pillsbury 9" Shells} which just covered the Pan to the edges. Place three small slits in the Centre of the Pie Shell to help the Steam Escape. Pre~heat the Oven to 450° Farenheit or 230° Celsius and place in oven. One thing that might save some grief is place the Frying Pan with the Shepherds Pie on a Cooking Sheet with the bottom covered with a Sheet of Aluminum Foil. This will help in keeping the Oven Clean. Leave in Oven for approx 15/20 {depending on oven} minutes for Pie Crust to Brown. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serves. One nice side to add with the Shepherds Pie is some Home Made Cole Slaw.
