Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground (bulk) Italian sausage
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 lb box Velveeta Cheese
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 chopped fresh tomatoes
  • 1 jar (16 oz) hot salsa, such as Pace Pecante ("hot" is optional. Use milder salsa as desired)

Preparation

Step 1

Cook sausage and ground beef until brown. Drain off excess fat.
Mix all ingredients and browned meat together in a crock pot. Cook on medium-high heat; stir occasionally until cheese is melted completely. (watch closely so that the mixture does not start burning. You may need to reduce the heat, depending on your crock pot settings.)

Optional: Cut cheese into 1" squares and melt in microwave on medium-high heat, then add to the mixture in the crock pot.
