I got this recipe from my Mom many years ago. She use to make these for breakfast all the time.

Ingredients

  • 3 C all purpose flour
  • 6 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 C shortening or butter
  • 1 1/2 C milk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Add shortening/butter and blend until the mixture feels "velvety".
Add the milk and mix lightly until ingredients are blended. Don't over mix.

Roll the dough out onto a floured surface (may need to flour your rolling pin too).

After the dough is rolled out to about 1" thick, cut out biscuits with a cookie cutter or round glass. Use scraps of left-over dough to roll out again and make more biscuits.

Place on a greased cookie sheet and brush the top with oil or butter.

Bake at 350 deg. F until risen and golden brown.
