Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 12 oz. fruit filling, poppy filling or walnut filling
  • Garnish: powdered sugar of fine sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour and baking powder in a small bowl; set aside. Blend butter, cream cheese, milk and sugar; add egg yolk, then flour mixture. Form dough into a ball; wrap in wax paper and chill for several hour or overnight. Roll out 1/4" thick on a floured surface; cut out with a 2" round cookie cutter. Arrange 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Make a thumbprint impression in center of each round; fill with one teaspoon filling. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden. Remove to platter; let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar or fine granulated sugar.
