Roll-Out Cookie Dough

Ingredients
- 1 C butter
- 1 C sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 t baking powder
- 1 t vanilla
- 3 C flour

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400*.
In a large bowl, cream butter & sugar with mixer.
Beat in egg & vanilla.
Add baking powder & flour 1 C at a time ; mixing after each addition.
The dough will be very stiff, blend last flour in by hand.
Do not chill dough.
Note: dough can be tinted with icing color.
Add small amounts until desired color is reached.
For chocolate cookies: stir in 3 oz. melted, unsweetened chocolate.
Tip: if dough becomes too stiff, add water; 1 teaspoon at a time.
Divide dough into 2 balls.
On a floured surface or cookie sheet roll each ball into a circle, approximately 12" in diameter & 1/8" thick.
Use cutters as a guide.
Dough should only be slightly thinner than cutter.
Dip cutters in flour before each use.
Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet on middle rack of oven for 6-7 mins or until cookies are lightly browned.
