Ingredients
- Sift together:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups flour
- In a saucepan, bring to a boil:
- 2 sticks of margarine
- 1 cup water
- 4 rounded tsp. cocoa
- In a small bowl, beat 2 eggs. Add 1/2 cup sour milk (1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar plus milk to equal 1/2 cup.) Then add:
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking soda

Add the boiled mixture to the egg mixture and then add dry ingredients.
Pour into a greased jelly pan (11x17x3/4) - the batter will be very runny.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.
Icing:
Bring to a boil:
1 stick margarine
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
Add this to 1 box of confectioner's sugar; add 1 tsp. vanilla and 1.2 cup chopped nuts.
Spread icing on hot cake. Cut into squares when cool.
