Ingredients
- 1 package (1.75 oz) frut pectin
- 3/4 C water
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 1 C sugar
- 1 C light corn syrup
- 2 t imitation frut extract
- food coloring, sugar

Step 1
Combine frut pectin, water and baking soda in medium sauce pan (it will foam). Combine sugar and corn syrup in large saucepan. Place both saucepans over high heat. Cook stirring alternately until foam disappears from the pectin mixture and the sugar mix boils rapidly (about 5 min). Pour fruit pectin mix into boiling sugar mix in a thin stream until all is added. Boil mixture stirring constantly, about 1 min longer. Remove saucepan from heat. Stir in extract and a few drops of food coloring. Immediately pour mix into 8x8x2 pan. For fancy shapes, spoon mix into tiny tart or hors d'oeuvres pans. Allow to stand at room temp (do not refrigerate) for about 3 hours until cool and firm. Cut gum drops into fancy shapes with small cutters, dip quickly in warm water and roll in granulated sugar.
