Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla ext.
  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Frosting
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 3 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.

Separately...Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

Gradually add dry mixture to creamed mixture and mix well.

Roll into 1.5 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 13-16 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Frosting:: in small bowl, combinethe butter, confectioners sugar, cocoa and extract. Add milk to desired consistency and drizzles of cookies
