Ingredients
- Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking cocoa
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cup oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 oz. bottle of red food coloring
- 1 tsp. white vinegar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 cup powdered sugar
- Optional: 1/3 cup chopped pecans

Step 1
In a large bowl, sift flour, sugar, salt and cocoa together. Add buttermilk, oil eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir in food coloring. Mix vinegar and baking soda together in a cup. Add to batter; mix only until well blended. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9" round baking pans.
Bake 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly; turn out of pans onto a wire rack and cool completely. Assemble and frost cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.
