Ingredients

  • 2 cups 2% milk
  • 1 tsp garlic, crushed
  • 1/8 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbs butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Note: For a richer sauce, substitute half and half or heavy cream for milk.

Preparation

Step 1

Place milk, garlic, pepper and salt in a small saucepan. Heat to the point of steaming. Meanwhile, melt butter on medium-high heat in a mediuim saucepan. When butter is slightly bubbling, add flour and stir well. Heat for 30 seconds, stirring constantly. (If color starts to darken, remove from heat.) Add steaming milk mixture to butter and flour and whisk rapidly. Add Parmesan cheese and continue whisking until thick and smooth. Pour over prepared pasta blend.
