Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 c dried bread crumbs
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 large onion-sliced
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz) condensed beef broth
  • 1 can (4 oz) mushroom pieces-drained
  • 2 T cold water
  • 2 t cornstarch

Step 1

mix ground beef, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and egg. shape into 4 oval patties about 3/4 inches thick. cook patties in a skillet over medium heat turning occasionally until brown--about 10-15 minutes-drain. Add onion, broth and mushrooms. Heat to boiling-reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beef is done.

remove patties and heat liquid until it is boiling--stir in cornstarch mixture to thicken sauce--serve over patties with mashed potatoes or rice.
